Elizabeth A. Khalil is currently a Senior Policy Analyst in the Supervisory Policy Branch of the FDICís Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection in Washington, D.C. At the FDIC, she focuses on compliance issues, include those relating to emerging technology, such as social media, mobile financial services, emerging payment methods, and privacy and data security. She serves as the chair of the FFIEC working group that drafted the FFIECís proposed social media guidance. Before joining the FDIC, she was a Senior Associate in the Financial Institutions Group of Hogan Lovells US LLP (formerly Hogan & Hartson), where she was also a member of the firmís Privacy Working Group. Prior to joining Hogan, she was a Senior Attorney at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. She is the co-author and co-editor of the Financial Institutions Answer Book, a treatise on banking regulation published by the Practising Law Institute. She has authored numerous articles on banking regulation and/or privacy law and contributes a crossword puzzle to the American Bankruptcy Instituteís monthly ABI Journal. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Federal Communications Bar Association. She graduated from Georgetown University and the University of Michigan Law School.
