Andy Harmening is a Senior Executive Vice President and head of the Regional Banking Group at Bank of the West.� He leads approximately 5,000 team members serving more than 1.2 million consumer and small business customers in over 600 branches across the Bank’s 19 state footprint.Andy oversees the Bank’s retail strategy, including customer experience and segmentation, branch evolution, sales, product development and risk and compliance. �Under Andy’s leadership the Bank has received a number of awards and national recognition for customer service; most recently, the Bank was named one of Money Magazine’s 2013 Best Banks in America, placed first in the ath Power Small Business Study and earned eleven Greenwich Excellence Awards.In the area of customer experience, Andy’s teams lead the strategy for customer segmentation ranging from mass market to mass affluent and small to medium-sized businesses. Today, the Bank’s small business team is consistently ranked as one of the country’s top 20 lenders and a leading SBA lender.� Andy also leads the design of the Bank’s newest branches as well as the overall retail network and ATM Strategies teams. �Having overseen Deposit Product Services, Business Credit Solutions and Business Credit Management, he recently began leading the Bank’s Home Mortgage division as well.� In addition, his teams are responsible for Retail and Small Business Incentives and Group Communications and Training.Andy has more 20 years of experience across product management, finance and all aspects of retail, small business and commercial banking.� He joined Bank of the West in 2005 and in 2007 he was appointed to his current position and named a member of the bank’s Executive Management Committee. ��His prior experience includes nine years with U.S. Bank in a succession of increasingly broad roles within the Small Business and Commercial Banker divisions. ��He began his career with Fifth Third Bank in CincinnatiActive in several outside organizations, Andy currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Bankers Association. The CBA’s members, comprised of the nation's largest financial institutions, regional banks and premier service providers to banks, collectively hold two-thirds of the industry's total assets. ��He also serves on the board of directors of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.Andy received his BA from DePauw University and his MBA from the University of Cincinnati.� He is a graduate of the Graduate School of Retail Bank Management at the University of Virginia.
