Mr. Bruce W. Van Saun is the head of RBS Americas and chairman and chief executive officer of RBS Citizens Financial Group, Inc. with more than 30 years of financial services experience. He regularly ranks among the top CFO's in banking – both while in the US and UK.
He previously served as the Group Finance Director of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc and played a key role - (working closely with former RBS CEO Stephen Hester) - to restructure the bank following the U.K. government's bail out – the biggest banking bail out in the world – in 2008 and 2009.
At Bank of New York Co., Mr. Van Saun headed a complex asset swap with JP Morgan Chase and was instrumental in the game-changing $16.5 million merger with Mellon Financial Corp.
Mr. Van Saun served as CFO of the new bank, Bank of New York Mellon Corp., which was the world’s largest securities servicing and asset management firm. He played an essential role in Bank of New York Co. Inc. strategic development, strengthening its financial position and transforming its business mix through more than 80 acquisitions and two major divestitures.
Prior to that, he held senior positions with Deutsche Bank, Wasserstein Perella Group and Kidder Peabody & Co. From late 2008 through joining RBS he worked as an advisor to US private equity firms.
