Senior Vice President, Strategic Brand Management - Corporate Marketing

Deborah Van Valkenburgh is senior vice president and director of Brand Management and the Marketing Centers of Excellence for The PNC Financial Services Group. She oversees all company-wide brand-related strategies and marketing communications efforts. In addition, she is also responsible for managing the agency-of-record relationship, other agency partners and internal resources to ensure optimal creative planning and execution, campaign integration and implementation through the appropriate outlets, channels and mediums. This includes all advertising and design support, e-Marketing, direct marketing, corporate sponsorship activation, branch environments and merchandising.Van Valkenburgh joined PNC through its acquisition of National City Corporation in December 2008. She has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry in all phases of brand management, marketing, product development, advertising and communications. She joined National City in January 2002 as the manager of Brand Management and was named co-director of Marketing in 2008. From 1991 to 1996, she served as managing director of Marketing for FedEx Latin America. She began her career as a copywriter for Sears, Chicago, and before moving to the client side, handling account management responsibilities for Carmichael-Lynch, Minneapolis.Van Valkenburgh currently serves on the board of directors for The Ad Council. She previously served as a board member for the NationalAquarium in Baltimore, MD, and the YMCA of Cleveland.She has a bachelor of arts degree in Journalism from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Minnesota.
