Jim Van Dyke is CEO of Javelin Strategy & Research, a Greenwich Associates LLC company, providing strategic insights into customer transactions. He works with financial institutions, government, payments companies, merchants and other service providers to increasing sustainable profits. Leading banks, credit unions and fintech companies have tapped Jimís strategic insights in drive acquisition, increase revenue, reduce costs and strengthen loyalty among their customers. Jim frequently works with senior business leaders in setting strategy for digital innovation. Leveraging his market expertise, he advises where to invest in digital financial services, key customer segments to monitor for insights to drive profitability and how to reduce costs in fraud-related payments.
Jim also serves on the Consumer Advisory Board of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), bringing a focus on digital innovation to regulatory policy. He has presented before the US House of Representatives, FDIC and numerous industry events.
Prior to founding Javelin, Jim was Research Director of financial services and payments efforts for Jupiter Media Metrix; served as the product director for an Internet encryption system used by Global 1000 commercial banking firms; provided Internet products strategy at Hewlett Packard, launched an Internet banking and payments system; and worked in the creation and implementation of interactive capabilities within the supply chain industry including online point of sale, electronic transactions, and accounting applications.
Jim presents before audiences ranging from the US House of Representatives, Federal Reserve Banks and numerous and numerous other professional venues. His published comments reach a global audience of over 40 million people per year though such outlets as NPR, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Economist, Forbes, USA Today, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Financial Times and American Banker. Jim holds a Bachelorís of Science in Management from San Jose State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Golden Gate University. He resides in the San Francisco Bay Area and is an avid bicyclist.
