Raj Seshadri

Head of Small Business Banking

Raj Seshadri is the Executive leading Small Business Banking on Citigroup’s North America Consumer Management Team, as of January 1, 2010. In this role she is responsible for building Citicorp’s U.S. small business franchise holistically. She also provides global governance and leadership on behalf of Citigroup’s Executive Committee for Citicorp’s regionally based Local Commercial Banks.Ms. Seshadri joined Citigroup in 2008 as Global Head of Strategy. Over the past two years she worked closely with Citigroup’s senior leadership to navigate Citigroup through the challenging economic crisis. She helped develop and execute strategies for Citicorp and Citi Holding. She drove strategic and capital planning, facilitated regulatory interactions, and provided M&A support, working closely with all the products, geographies and functions across the company.Prior to Citigroup, Ms. Seshadri was Executive Vice President of Strategy, Marketing and Communications for U.S. Trust and a member of the U.S. Trust Policy Committee. She was responsible for strategy, M&A and planning. As the Chief Marketing Officer she managed all internal and external communications, including advertising, media and investor relations, client marketing, product marketing, marketing services, as well as regional, institutional and event marketing. After the sale of U.S. Trust from Charles Schwab to Bank of America, she supported post-merger integration, and drove the rebranding and repositioning for the new U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management brand.Ms. Seshadri came to U.S. Trust after eleven years with global consultants McKinsey & Company, where she was a partner in the New York office. She has extensive expertise across the financial services industry including private banking, retail brokerage, credit card, retail banking, consumer finance, asset management, as well as small business and middle market financial services. Her experience includes corporate and business strategy, marketing, product development, pricing, segmentation, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring. Ms. Seshadri began her career as a physicist and was a post-doctoral member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories. Ms. Seshadri holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University, with a certificate in global management. She also earned an A.M. and a PhD in Physics from Harvard University. She graduated A. B. summa cum laude in mathematics and physics from Mount Holyoke College. She grew up in India and is fluent in English, Hindi and Tamil.
