Richard Melville

Richard Melville is Group Editorial Director for SourceMedia’s banking publications, including its daily flagship newspaper American Banker. Publications in the banking group also include, among others, the weekly newspaper National Mortgage News, the monthly publications Bank Technology News and U.S. Banker, and electronic publications such as Cardline , ATM & Debit News and PaymentsSource.com.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Melville was Managing Editor of American Banker for nine years, in which role he was responsible for daily management of both the newspaper and AmericanBanker.com. Before that, he worked at Reuters as Deputy Equities Editor and Wall Street Editor, managing coverage, and prior to that reporting, on a variety of beats, including technology, telecommunications, real estate, banking, airlines, and the stock market. Prior to that he worked at PC World magazine.

Before entering the field of journalism, Mr. Melville was a senior consultant with Deloitte & Touche's Valuation practice in New York. He graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in philosophy and economics, and attended the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley.
