Misys Enlists in the Outside Crowd

Bank Technology News  |  March, 2010

Joining firms such as Yodlee in opening up software building to third parties, core banking provider Misys plans to license its BankFusion platform to outside developers.

The firm says the developers will be welcome to build their own apps, which after accreditation by the vendor can be marketed to the BankFusion community. The thinking is the move will allow BankFusion to become a tool for industrywide use.

The new initiative, which is scheduled to be ready within the next two years, will make BankFusion common components open to developers to build incrementally without having to reconstruct the entire underlying application.

Based on a SOA architecture, BankFusion—Misys’ latest core banking system—provides front and back office deployments covering lending, deposits, payments, treasury and trade services.

With eight client wins so far, BankFusion is considered an evolution from the older Midas and Equation systems. Its target audience is banks just below Tier I in size.
