Old National Taps NCR to Cast a Wider Web

Bank Technology News  |  May, 2010

Indiana-based Old National Bank is plotting an expansion of its Web banking capabilities over the next year, and has tapped NCR’s Web hosting services to provide consistency over a variety of channels.

The bank will use NCR’s APTRA online banking solution, which will enable the $7.8 billion-asset bank’s customers to access their accounts online and perform transactions such as paying bills, checking balances and receiving notifications. Since the bank will be using NCR’s data center as part of the hosted services, its Web offerings will be scalable as new functions are added.

Old National had used NCR to provide online banking technology before, but is extending its use of the company’s services as part of an effort to create the same user experience and promote a single customer view in different departments or venues.

“A customer will be able to go online and make a query on a product, then be reminded of that query when at an ATM,” says Claire Shufflebotham, global marketing manger of merged channels for NCR. “A key part of the relationship is that all channels need to work together rather than in silos.”

The APTRA product provides a roadmap to enable the bank to develop mobile banking and converge services. That includes targeted promotions to customers across branch, call center, mobile, online and ATMs. The bank will also be able to track and adapt to consumers’ presence in these channels and their communication preferences. “Online banking is mature, but there’s still potential to [leverage it] to do cross channel marketing,” Shufflebotham says.
