NCR hopes to take a bite out of ATM fraud by offering its real-time security product—a solution that’s designed to halt the use of unauthorized code at the point of attack—in concert with McAfee’s automated end-to-end network visibility and response delivery platform.
The ATM firm will offer its Solidcore Suite for APTRA for use with the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator platform.
Solidcore Suite for APTRA is a multivendor ATM software security product that guards against ATM infiltration. The product allows only authorized code to run, rather than reacting to known or unknown attacks as they arise. It creates and updates the inventory of “good” code, also protecting the system’s memory so authorized code cannot be modified, deleted or hijacked—the process by which malicious code replaces authorized code.
In a recent test by NSS Labs, NCR ATMs running Solidcore for APTRA achieved a protective rating of 99.8 percent and prevented the unauthorized executing of 100 percent of the 15,557 malware samples on the locked down Windows platform.
McAfee’s ePolicy Orchestrator platform is designed to simplify and speed enterprise security by automating the delivery of security responses. It manages security across endpoints, networks and data; integrates third party solutions and provides visibility into bank security and compliance postures.
The partnership should vastly expand the reach of NCR’s ATM security technology, since more than 92 percent of the world’s largest banks run on McAfee’s systems.
