THE VALUE EXCHANGE BETWEEN MERCHANTS, BANKS AND CONSUMERS
Some banks remain skeptical about consumer adoption of mobile shopping and payments. With the launching of new mobile wallet initiatives, the increasing promotion of digital offers and coupons, and the formation of the Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX), a joint venture of the nation’s largest and most influential merchants to create a mobile commerce platform, all demonstrate the growing momentum of mobile shopping and payments on a broad scale. While widespread consumer adoption hasn’t yet taken place, current segment-specific use cases are evidence of its potential growth and value for consumers, as well as make the case that banks have a significant strategic role to play. This session will examine how consumers are currently engaged in mobile shopping, using mobile payments, and what merchants and banks can and are doing to derive and provide value to and from consumers.
