PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP - TRENDS AROUND CARD SPEND: THE USE AND VALUE TO THE SMALL BUSINESS EXECUTIVE

John F. Rubinetti, SVP - Regional Head of Sales, Treasury Solutions, RBS CITIZENS
Jay Singer, Group Head, US Commercial Products, MASTERCARD WORLDWIDE

Financial institutions are beginning to view the small business segment as a significant growth opportunity.† And thatís easy to understand when comparing the check to card migration opportunity in the small business space with the consumer segment.† Less than 10% of the annual payment volume of the small business segment is carded volume, with checks representing the overwhelming majority of spend.

There are many reasons for the slower embrace of corporate cards by small businesses.† Most tend to center primarily around the lack of awareness of the benefits of corporate card programs.†

Many companies are under-leveraging corporate cards as a tool for fraud mitigation, cost control, fraud control, float and vendor pricing discounts.

In this session, RBS Citizens and MasterCard will identify the key areas where companies can reap the greatest value from card use across operations. Practical approaches to managing this important element of payments will be discussed, like benchmarking industry peers, accounts payable and vendor match analysis and reviewing payment policies and terms.
