ûIn August, 2010, NewAlliance was itself the subject of an acquisition with the announcement of its sale to First Niagara Group of Buffalo, NY. This transaction is scheduled to close in the First Quarter, 2011, creating a merged entity that will become one of the 25 largest banks in the United States by assets.
