Senate's CFPB Director Vote to Occur Next Week

The Senate will hold a vote to confirm Richard Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sometime next week.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed the vote, telling reporters, "I'm going to make sure he's going to have a vote next week."

Republicans oppose confirming Cordray or any CFPB head, as the GOP lawmakers want several structural changes, including replacing its single director with a five-member board.

According to a political website, Talking Points Memo, Reid continued to say, "We're going to fill that job. Cordray is there now. He's going to get a vote."
