The FinTech 100 and the Top 25 Enterprise Companies in FinTech were developed by American Banker and Financial Insights, an IDC company, as a way to evaluate technology providers to financial services companies worldwide. (Go to 2007 FinTech 100 Special Report.)

The FinTech 100 comprises the top vertical technology vendors that derive more than a third of their revenue from this industry. The Top 25 Enterprise Companies in FinTech lists the top 25 horizontal technology vendors that sell to this and other industries, but ranks them based on sales to this industry only.

What is the FinTech 100?

The FinTech 100 rankings, and their associated special report, are a collaboration of American Banker and the research firm Financial Insights, an IDC Company.

The FinTech 100 comprises the top vertical technology vendors that derive more than a third of their revenue from this industry.

The Top Enterprise Companies in FinTech lists the top 25 horizontal technology vendors that sell to this and other industries, but ranks them based on sales to this industry only.

In addition to the rankings, the report also contains a series of feature and analysis articles focusing on vendors and groups of vendors whose strategic direction has changed in a major or noteworthy way.

Overview

The FinTech 100 special report emerges at a time when the environment for technology spending by financial institutions is not nearly as bleak as the overall gloomy conditions that have battered bankers in the latter part of the year.
