Marinvest Inc., New York, appointed its chief executive officer, John C. Quinn, to the additional post of chief investment officer.
Marinvest, which manages about $2.8 billion of institutional funds, is 60% owned by Wardley Investment Services and 20% owned by Marine Midland Bank. Both companies are members of the Hong Kong-based HSBC Group.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
The Connecticut bank —a regional traditionally regarded as a cautious lender — said nonperforming loans and leases rose 53% year-over-year. The uptick was in mostly the commercial-and-industrial loan space, although there was one nonperforming commercial real estate loan, executives said.
