2 Bank Software Firms Adapting Their Products to NCR Computers

NCR Corp. has formed alliances with two banking software companies that are modifying their products to run on NCR's family of "open systems" computers.

Open systems are designed so software can run on a number of different types and sizes of computers without extensive programming modifications.

Okra Marketing Corp., maker of a PC-based customer information system for banks, and SLM Software Inc., which makes electronic funds transfer systems, signed agreements with NCR last month.

The Okra pact is worth $2.5 million to the software company over two years; the SLM agreement is valued at $2.8 million over the same period.

Both software companies will market their products to banks with NCR's System 3000 line of computers. The hardware uses the Unix operating system.
