Canadian Bank Says Privacy Is Assured

Canada's largest bank is trying to reassure its customers that their financial dealings will remain private.

Telling consumers it needs confidential information about customer finances, the Royal Bank of Canada is handing out a brochure titled "Straight Talk About Client Privacy."

Toronto-based Royal Bank, with $113 billion in assets, said the brochure is meant to deal with "worldwide trends to address privacy in a more specific fashion and spell out consumer rights."

The handout is part of the bank's "Straight Talk" brochure series that deals with issues like pricing, safe deposit boxes, and preventing financial fraud.
