No Down Payments In Fannie Program

The Federal National Mortgage Association, known as Fannie Mae, said it will buy $100 million of home loans requiring no down payment by low- and moderate-income people in rural communities.

Lenders are to originate the loans in 20 states, with the Farmers Home Administration providing guarantees against losses. The program may be expanded substantially next year, Fannie Mae said.
