Calendar Premium Aimed at Seniors

First Interstate Bank of California, Premier Bank of Baton Rouge, and four other banks have snapped up calendars filled with financial information to pass out as premiums to their senior customers.

American Custom Publishing Corp., a Libertyville, Ill., company specializing in publications for older adults, said it has sold almost 50,000 calendars to the banks and other financial institutions.

Each month, the calendar devotes a page to financial planning tips, with information on banking, taxes, and cost savings.

American Custom Publishing targeted financial institutions because adults over 55 comprise a large part of that industry's customer base.

"We're giving them away because we value their business," said Sandi Olshan, marketing officer of First Interstate. The bank plans to give away 4,000 calendars.
