Mellon PSFS to Close 8 Offices

PHILADELPHIA - Mellon PSFS said it will close eight branches in the Philadelphia area and consolidate their business in nearby offices between Aug. 16 and Aug. 23.

The closings are part of an integration of Mellon Bank Corp.'s Philadelphia retail network with 54 branches that it acquired last year from Meritor Savings Bank. The latter offices operated under the name PSFS - Philadelphia Saving Fund Society.

Unifying Product Line

Mellon PSFS chairman Thomas F. Donovan said new signs bearing the Mellon PSFS name and logotype will be installed at all locations between July 15 and Aug. 30.

The marketing move follows a consolidation of the Mellon and PSFS computer systems in May, allowing the bank to offer a uniform product line through its 110 offices in eastern Pennsylvania.

Where They're Closing

Offices being closed include former PSFS locations in Chestnut Hill and Exton as well as former Mellon offices in Manoa, Mayfair, Media, Lansdale, Granite Run, and Wayne.

The Wayne office will become a business center location, serving small businesses, trust, and custom banking clients by appointment. A former PSFS branch office in Levittown, which was closed temporarily after fire damage in mid-June, will be closed permanently.
