Robert Baird names new manager.

Robert W. Baird & Co. announced it has named Keith A. Kolb as manager of its public finance department.

Mr. Kolb succeeds David G. Howland, a senior vice president who has headed the department of the Milwaukee-based firm for the past three and a half years.

In a press release, Richard C. Fischer, executive vice president of investment banking, said Mr. Howland will continue to work in the public finance department, "assisting in the transition, as well as serving municipal clients."

Craig Zurawski, a spokesman for the company, said the management change was due to a "transition in interests," adding that Mr. Kolb had been taking over "more and more" of the management activities in the department. Mr. Kolb, a first vice president, joined Baird in 1985, after practicing municipal bond law with a Milwaukee law firm.

"We're confident that Keith will continue to develop our expertise and breadth of service, building on the strong foundation already in place," Mr. Fischer said in the statement.
