VanFed's Thrift Acquired

SEATTLE -- Washington Mutual Savings Bank said it has acquired the federal savings bank subsidiary of VanFed Bancorp in Vancouver, Wash.

Washington Mutual, the state's largest thrift organization, said it paid former VanFed shareholders $19 a share, for a total cash consideration of about $23.3 million.
