Bank South Names Patrick Flinn to CEO Post

Patrick L. Flinn has been named president and chief executive officer of Bank South Corp., Atlanta.

He replaces John C. Wilson, a bank director, who has been interim CEO since Robert P. Guyton resigned on June 19, touching off a search for a successor.

Mr. Flinn was group executive vice president in charge of real estate and mortgage banking for C&S/Sovran Corp. in Washington.

Bank South also named another former C&S/Sovran Corp. executive, John E. McKinley, senior executive vice president and chief credit officer of the Atlanta-based holding company.

Mr. McKinley was group executive vice president and chief credit officer in the corporate banking group of C&S/Sovran.

Franklin L. Burke has resigned as senior executive vice president and a director of Bank South Corp., and as chairman and chief executive officer of Bank South in Atlanta, the $4.9 billion-asset corporation's lead bank. Mr. Wilson is also interim CEO of that bank.

Mr. Flinn and Mr. McKinley assumed their new duties on Aug. 1, when the interim management stepped aside.

Lynn H. Johnston, chairman of Life Insurance Company of Georgia, was named chairman of the Bank South board on June 19 and will continue in this position. He is also chairman of the executive committee.
