Federal funds

Federal funds were trading slightly higher than the new target rate of 5.5% on Wednesday, one day after the Federal Reserve lowered the target from 5.75%.

Traders said the two-week reserve maintenance period would likely close quietly despite the easing Tuesday.

"I don't see it going below 5%. Quite dull," said one fed funds broker.
