BCCI Staff Files Suit over Retirement Fund

LUXEMBOURG - Two employees of Luxembourg-based Bank of Credit and Commerce International have taken legal action over the apparent disappearance of assets from a staff retirement fund.

In a complaint against "persons unknown," the staffers of BCCI's Luxembourg branch asked examining magistrate Andre Lutgen to investigate the status of the fund.

The complaint said the employees feared the fund's assets had been diverted.

The fund, partly built up with employee contributions, was intended to give veteran staffers a lump sum when they left the bank. Seventeen of BCCI's 69 Luxembourg staff were fund members.
