Georgia Banks Set to Merge
GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- First National Bancshares of Paulding County said it signed a letter of intent to merge with First National Bancorp of Gainesville, Ga.
First National, based in Dallas, Ga., said the merger will involve only a stock swap and is subject to a definitive merger agreement and shareholder approvals.
Should the all-stock transaction close as planned later this year, Wintrust Financial in the Chicago area would gain about $2.7 billion of assets.
