SBA Honors Systematic for Helping Minorities
Bank technology vendor Systematic Information Services Inc. has been recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration for its efforts in the development and expansion of minority-owned businesses in its region.
Little Rock, Ark.-based Systematics was selected to receive the 1991 SBA Region VI Award and is one of only 10 companies in the country to receive the award from the agency. In addition to Arkansas, Region IV includes Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
"We recognize a special leadership responsibility in assisting and/or supporting small business, especially minority businesses," said John Steuri, chairman and chief executive officer of Systematics.
Xavier Heard, software support manager and a coordinator of the company's minority development program, said, "Systematics wanted to provide a |window of opportunity' for minority-owned business of all kinds, purely because it is the right thing to do."
Systematics officials will attend a White House awards ceremony in Washington on Sept. 25, at which President Bush is scheduled to speak.
The company, a unit of Alltel Corp., has clients in 45 states and 25 countries. It provides data processing management services and application software to the financial services and telecommunications industries.
