IBM to Sell Hogan Systems' Software for Credit Card Servicing

Hogan Systems Inc. has granted International Business Machines Corp. nonexclusive rights to market Hogan's consumer and merchant servicing system in North America.

The software is an on-line, real-time system for processing credit card applications and authorizations as well as for cardholder and merchant accounting and servicing.

Hogan introduced the software in May 1989. Fourteen banks worldwide have licensed it and five have it in operation.

IBM already had an agreement to exclusively market Hogan's integrated banking applications product line in North America.

Hogan also announced that it would develop an image-processing application for the merchant servicing system.

The application, to be offered under IBM's ImagePlus product line, will capture and process images of credit applications and customer correspondence, shortening the time needed to apply for a credit card and settle charge disputes, Hogan said.

The company expects to begin testing the image system early next year, said Gregor G. Peterson, president and chief executive.
