American Express Hires Chase Veteran

Eric W. P. Hasselman has left Chase Manhattan Bank to be a managing director and chief credit officer at American Express Bank Ltd., the New York-based international banking unit of American Express Co.

Mr. Hasselman, 53, will oversee the loan and risk-asset portfolio. His responsibilities will include development, monitoring and revision of credit policies and procedures.

28 Years of Experience

He will report to Jill M. Considine, managing director and chief administrative officer.

Mr. Hasselman "brings with him almost 30 years of banking and credit experience and has considerable background in international markets," said Ms. Considine, a former New York State banking superintendent.

In 28 years at Chase, Mr. Hasselman held a series of international banking jobs. Since 1989 he had been credit executive for international corporate finance.
