Hanover Executive Gets a Post at Fleet

Eugene M. McQuade, executive vice president and controller at Manufacturers Hanover Corp., will join Fleet/Norstar Financial Group as senior vice president for finance on Jan. 1.

Mr. McQuade will report to chief financial officer John W. Flynn and will be responsible for audit, control, insurance, and tax functions.

The 12-year Hanover veteran will be leaving the bank on the eve of its planned merger with Chemical Banking Corp.

Mr. McQuade had been appointed director of management information systems at the new entity.

His present post of controller was given to James T. Latchford, 47, the controller at Chemical.

Mr. McQuade's special projects included negotiations with Iran to return $75 million in blocked funds.
