Dime of N.Y.'s profit totals $8.7 million.

NEW YORK -- Dime Savings Bank of New York said it earned $8.7 million, or 38 cents a share, in the third quarter, reversing a loss of 4.5 million, or 19 cents a share, in the 1991 third quarter.
