Bankers' Bank of Florida taps Wayne Mikell.

Here's a rundown of boardroom changes at banks and thrifts as well as elections of bankers to outside boards.

W. Wayne Mikell, president and chief executive officer of Bank of Belle Glade, Fla., is the new chairman of Bankers' Bancorporation of Florida, Orlando, the holding company for the Independent Bankers' Bank of Florida.

He succeeds W. Sidney Porter, president and chief executive of American Bank and Trust Co. of Polk County.

Mr. Mikell will be chairman of both the bank's and the holding company's boards of directors.

Newly elected directors are: George M. Apelian, president and chief executive of County National Bank, North Miami Beach; John J. Jenkins, president and chief executive of Tri-County Community Bank of Lehigh Acres; John C. McGee, president of First City Bank of Fort Walton; and David G. Payne Jr., president and chief executive of Peoples State Bank of Groveland.

Independent Bankers' Bank of Florida, the sole subsidiary of Bankers' Bancorporation of Florida, is owned by community banks from throughout Florida and serves 245 banks.
