Vermont Federal taps Humphrey as president.

E. David Humphrey, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Vermont Federal Bank, Williston, has assumed the bank's presidency, succeeding John A. Cobb.

Mr. Cobb continues as president and chief executive officer of Eastern Bancorp, Vermont Federal's parent. Mr. Cobb said his surrender of duties at Vermont Federal would give him more time to work with another subsidiary, First Savings of New Hampshire, "as we pursue additional growth opportunities and expanded retail services."

Mr. Humphrey, who joined Vermont Federal last December, was president of Eureka Savings Bank, Overland Park, Kan. Earlier, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Magnet Bank, Charleston, W. Va., where he worked with Mr. Cobb.
