Outage at N.Y. Fed.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York suspended operation of its funds transfer system for 90 minutes late Monday afternoon to help it recover from an outage on its securities wire.

The securities system did not operate from 9:10 a.m. until after 5 p.m. because of software problems, according to a bank spokesman. The wires were expected to stay open into the night to settle transactions. Other Fed banks were not affected.
