NEW YORK - Citicorp has unveiled a Visa product that gives consumers 15 minutes of free long-distance calls over the MCI network during each month in which the card is used for retail purchases.
The card is called Citibank MCI Visa. Customers will pay the prime rate plus 9.4 points (currently 15.4%, adjusted quarterly) on outstanding balances, and no annual fee if they are MCI residential customers. Others will pay $20 a year.
Another MCI deal was announced Nov. 19 by American Express Travel Related Services Co. Early next year, holders of its Corporate cards will be able to make MCI calls while on the road, using their card account numbers and personal identification codes.
