Wednesday's market.

Most bank stocks rose modestly Wednesday, in line with the broader market.

After falling more than 17 points Tuesday, the Dow climbed back above 3,400 Wednesday, closing at 3,406.99, up 10.89 points.

First Chicago Corp. rose 25 cents, to $32.125. County NatWest analyst Stephen Berman upgraded the stock to "accumulate" from "underperformer."

He also raised his 1993 earnings estimate to $4.20 a share, from $3.60. At the same time, Mr. Berman reduced his 1992 estimate to $2.60, from $2.75, anticipating the dilutive effect of a pending stock offering.
