Midland ups stake in its French unit.

PARIS - Midland Bank PLC, London, has increased its control of a French subsidiary, Midland Bank SA, to 99.43% of capital, the French stock exchange association said.

The British bank, a unit of HSBC Holdings PLC, also owned 218,258 of the French unit's 221,281 convertible perpetual subordinated notes following an offer to buy out minority holders.

The shares of Midland Bank SA will cease to be listed on the Paris bourse.
