O'Leary named energy secretary.

WASHINGTON - President-elect Bill Clinton yesterday named utility company executive Hazel O'Leary to be his nominee for energy secretary.

O'Leary is the executive vice president of Northern States Power, an investor-owned utility that serves Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

In the Carter administration, O'Leary served as the administrator of the Economic Regulatory Administration, an agency within the Energy Department.

Clinton also named Richard Riley, former governor of South Carolina, to be his nominee for Education Secretary.
