CCB finishes merger of 2 banking units.

DURHAM, N.C. - Republic Bank and Trust Co., a subsidiary of CCB Financial Corp. since 1986, said it had completed its merger with Central Carolina Bank and Trust, the holding company's lead bank.

CCB is the ninth-largest banking company in North Carolina, with more than $2 billion in assets. Combined, CCB and Republic have 97 branch offices across the state.
