NEWORLD BANCORP, Boston, has named Thomas J. Treacy Jr. senior executive vice president of the bank holding company and its principal subsidiary, Neworld Bank.
Mr. Treacy, who will retain the title of chief financial officer, holds management responsibility for the finance, investment, Boston commercial banking, and investor relations functions. He also oversees the asset-liability committee and is a member of the bank's senior loan and planning committees.
For the better part of the past decade, the Federal Reserve Board in Washington has played a more active role in presidential searches by regional reserve banks. The shift seems to have made the system more diverse, but some argue at the expense of regional bank independence.
