Chemical Bank hires a Security refugee.

NEW YORK - Chemical Bank has hired Luke S. Hayden to lead its sales of home mortgages into the secondary market, officials said Monday.

Mr. Hayden, a veteran of Security Pacific Corp., will hold a newly created senior vice president's post in the consumer lending area. He had declined a similar post at BankAmerica, which merged with Security Pacific in April.

Chemical Bank, the main unit of Chemical Banking Corp., plans to originate about $10 billion of mortgages this year, selling the bulk of them into the secondary market. Mr. Hayden, 35, will also manage the mortgages that the bank keeps.
