Maryland.

Treasurer Lucille Maurer is back working part-time and is doing "very well," a spokesman for the treasurer said last week.

Ms. Maurer is recuperating from surgery to remove a meningioma, a growth that occurs between the skull and brain in membranes called the meninges. The meninges envelope the brain.

"Her doctors said she would recover fully," said spokesman Greg Pecoraro. "But they're really pleased with how quickly she's recovering. She's just really incredible."

Ms. Maurer could be back on the job full-time when Maryland next comes to market with a general obligation bond issue, likely in late August. That issue is expected to be about $100 million.
