Caffrey joins A.G. Edwards in West Palm Beach, Fla.

A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc. announced recently that John J. Caffrey has joined the trading desk in the firm's West Palm Beach, Fla., office.

Mr. Caffrey will concentrate on municipal underwriting because the firm plans to be more active as a senior manager, according to a release from the firm.

"As the volume of business has steadily increased, it became obvious that we would need to expand our staff if we were to continue to provide the same level of professional service," said Gerry J. Henkel, vice president and manager of the office, in a release. "John's many years of experience and long-standing professional relationships will benefit our clients and our office."

From 1985 until he joined A.G. Edwards, Mr. Caffrey was vice president and manager of the Florida municipal department for Gruntal & Co. in Palm Beach.

Before that, he was with Blyth Eastman Dillon & Co., as a retail trader. Blyth Eastman was taken over by PaineWebber Inc. in 1980, and Mr. Caffrey remained there until 1985.

Mr. Caffrey began his career in 1965 at Phelps, Fenn & Co., which was taken over by Dean Witter Reynolds Securities in 1971.
