BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Farmers Banking Co., Lakeview, said it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase a $25 million-asset branch of Savings of Americ, an affiliate of H.F. Ahmanson & Co., the nation's largest thrift company.
Farmers, an affiliate of Mid Am Inc. of Bowling Gree, said that in addition to acquiring the Marysville branch, it acquired land to accommodate expansion of its business in that town. It kept all Savings of America employees.
The top five banks and thrifts had combined assets of more than $13 trillion as of December 31, 2023.
