David Branch named president and CEO of American Banker.

NEW YORK -- David S. Branch, a veteran publishing executive, has been named president and chief executive of the American Banker/Bond Buyer unit of Thomson Publishing Corp.

Mr. Branch will be responsible for the American Banker and its sister daily publication, The Bond Buyer. He will also oversee the American Banker's newsletter division and two research units, Trans Data Corp. and PSI.

Mr. Branch most recently was senior vice president at Fairchild Publications, a division of Capital Cities/ABC. During 24 years at Fairchild, he was responsible for a variety of trade publications.

In announcing the appointment, Andrew G. Mills, president and chief executive of Thomson Financial Services, said: "David brings a wealth of publishing experience to this position. We expect him to build on the leadership positions that the American Banker ad Bond Buyer already enjoy."

Mr. Branch succeeds George W. Landgrebe, who becomes a vice president in the Thomson Information Publishing Group.
