Lambert may sell stake in its bank.

BRUSSELS - Banque Internationale a Luxembourg is in talks to buy a stake in Banque Bruxelles Lambert from the holding company Groupe Bruxelles Lambert.

A holding-company official confirmed the company is in talks to sell a 5% stake in Banque Bruxelles, the second-largest bank in Belgium. No price details were disclosed.

A Banque Internationale spokeswoman said its board would make a final decision about the purchase on July 7.

Any agreement would need the approval of the Belgian Banking Commission.

Groupe Bruxelles also reported has been in talks to sell part of its Banque Bruxelles stake to Credit Communal, a Belgian bank that has a 49% stake in Banque Internationale.
