MINNEAPOLIS - Metropolitan Financial Corp. said its chairman, Norman M. Jones, has agreed to reassume the duties of chief executive officer, effective Aug. 1.
Mr. Jones, 62, had relinquished the post in late 1990, but it was not filled. Though he stepped back from day-to-day duties, he remained active in legislative and regulatory matters. He is chairman of the Savings Association Insurance Fund industry advisory committee.
The top five banks and thrifts have combined total assets of nearly $13 trillion.
