CoreStates get nod to buy First Peoples.

WASHINGTON - The Federal Reserve Board has approved CoreStates Financial Corp.'s application to acquire First Peoples Financial Corp. of New Jersey.

CoreStates, based in Philadelphia, has about $22 billion in assets and would add $1.1 billion with First Peoples. That would bring its New Jersey total to about $3.8 billion, making CoreStates the No.6 banking organization in the state, the Fed said.
