BRISTOL, Va. -- Charter Federal Savings Bank said it expects to realize a profit for each quarter of fiscal 1993.
For the fiscal year ended June 30, Charter Federal recently reported a profit of $4.4 million, or $1.20 a share, compared with a loss of $13.4 million, or $3.67 a share, for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1991.
Net charge-offs at the Charlotte, North Carolina-based bank increased by more than 80% in the first quarter compared with a year earlier. BofA executives say that the rising losses were in line with the bank's risk appetite.
